In an effort to keep as much "trash" from the landfills that I can, I make my birdhouses out of used materials. These cast-off materials and items I find out in the woods, pick up at yard sales or are given to me by different folks. All the shipping boxes and packaging I use to ship these items are reused as well, from whatever source I can find at the time.
